Hi there! I am glad you are taking the time to learn more about me and the services I can provide. I am a trauma-informed therapist who places great emphasis on the therapeutic relationship as a vehicle for healing and change. I think you will find that I am a warm and compassionate person who provides a caring, safe and nonjudgmental space. Through my years of clinical practice, I have learned that no person is left unscathed from the impact of some sort of trauma and that these events often require us to adapt to difficult situations by disconnecting from important parts of our identity, emotions, bodies and relationships. Though I draw from several therapeutic modalities, the center theme in my approach is influenced by the Neuro-Affective Relational Model (NARM) for developmental trauma. I facilitate change through curious awareness in a genuine and heartfelt relationship in the here and now. With NARM, I help you to notice when you are behaving in relationships in a way that doesn’t seem good for you but are not sure what to do about it, if you want to experience more connection with yourself and others, feel stuck in repetitive patterns of guilt and shame, want to increase your capacity to experience and process emotion, or if you are curious to know more about developmental trauma.
In addition to my growing interest in trauma work, I also enjoy my work as a DBT therapist. DBT is a treatment indicated for individuals who struggle with emotional dysregulation, interpersonal difficulties, suicidality, self-harm and substance use, among other behaviors. The function of DBT is to help enhance a person’s skill base to cope with difficult life situations. A majority of my clients are teens who greatly benefit from DBT. I also enjoy working with parents who equally benefit from support and training as they move through the challenges of the teen years.
