Registered MHC & MFT Intern
Hello and thank you so much for taking this time to review my profile. I am in this field out of my sincere desire to be with people as they go through life’s many challenges and heartaches and I am wholeheartedly committed to providing you with excellent care. Working together you will feel more understood, fully accepted and less alone in your life.
I provide a welcoming, non-judgmental and safe environment so we can explore what is troubling you. I place strong emphasis on the formation of a genuine bond between myself and the people with whom I have the privilege to work. I understand that making changes can be difficult and overwhelming, so together we will examine the obstacles you are facing. I focus on empowering people to define for themselves what they want out of life while supporting them in taking the steps towards creating that life. Taking responsibility for our own choices takes tremendous courage and I respect the strength it takes to look objectively at yourself in the mirror, uncovering the person you truly are.
I integrate Person-centered, Humanistic and Interpersonal treatment approaches with individuals. In addition, I have received specialized training in Emotionally-Focused Therapy, an evidence based approach to helping couples experience a greater emotional connection and satisfying intimacy.
My areas of specialization are women’s issues, self-esteem, anxieties connected to identity and life purpose, personal growth and relationship issues. I have a special interest in body image and eating disorders and appreciate that it is just “not about food.” I believe it is essential to address the core of one’s issues, rather than focusing on suppressing symptoms. A nurturing environment where you can truly be seen and be heard, offers an opportunity to develop and practice new ways of experiencing emotions, communicating with others, building confidence and coping with life’s adversities. All of this helps to support growth and development so that healing may occur. Therapy can help you develop the most important relationship in your life; and that is the relationship with yourself and your body. All of you is welcome here.
Selecting a therapist is a very personal decision, please feel welcome to contact me with any questions you may have about me and how my services may help you.
